The Summer Program

The recreational youth soccer clubs in Thurston County conduct their main season during the summer.  This summer league is the most popular program offered by the Olympia United Soccer Club and has the largest registration.  Boys and girls teams are formed for players in the U8 through U19 age groups. Games are played against other recreational teams from the Olympia/ Tumwater/ Westside/ Lacey and Yelm areas.

When the Summer Season Takes Place

Games for the summer season take place in June and July with games starting the 3rd week of June and ending the last week of July. Girls games are typically played on Monday and Wednesday evenings and Boys games are typically played on Tuesday and Thursday evenings. Game start times are either 6:00pm or 7:30pm for both Boys and Girls.  The season consists of ten games.

Registration for the Summer Program

Registration for the summer season starts on April 1, 2010 and ends May 2, 2010. The Washington State Youth Soccer Association (WSYSA) has gone to an online registration system. Information on how to register online for OUSC through this website will be posted on the Home Page when registration opens in March.

The registration fee for the 2010 Summer program is $70/player for U8-U11 and $75 for U12-U19.  The registration fee is payable by check or credit card. Registrants paying by credit card are confirmed electronically at the time of registration. Registrants paying by check are held in a pending status until the check is received by OUSC. A child is NOT considered registered until payment is received by OUSC!  When paying by check please remember to mail in your check promptly!

There will be a $10 late fee assessed to registrants registering after the deadline.

How Teams Are Formed

OUSC can field only as many teams as it has coaches.  OUSC coaches are volunteers and are often a parent of one of the players on the team.  Registrants can indicate a Team, Coach, or Player preference on the electronic registration form.  Unless otherwise requested, teams are typically formed by school attended.  There are no 'hard borders' in youth soccer and OUSC is happy to serve people from outside our typical service area.  However, if, for example, you are from Lacey or Tumwater and are new to OYSC, it may be difficult for us to place your child with schoolmates.  Please click here for information on our service area.

Players that request a team they've played on previously, AND REGISTER BEFORE THE DEADLINE, are always placed onto that team.  At the registration deadline, which is May 2, 2010, any new or miscellaneous players that have registered on time are placed onto teams of the appropriate age and gender that have spots available.  After the registration deadline, late registrants are placed onto teams based on their order of registration and the placement guidelines described above, provided there are still spots available on the appropriate teams.

Practices

Practice times and locations are determined by the coach, who is a volunteer.  Practices take place at area parks and schools.  Practices may begin as early as mid-May, depending on the coach, who is a volunteer.
